The key laws that shape busking across the UK
Sets the framework for England & Wales. Busking on the public highway is generally not a licensable activity; PSPOs are the main restriction tool.
Governs Scotland. No national permit is required, but the police have statutory powers to stop a performance causing annoyance.
Allows noise abatement notices for statutory nuisance. Breaching one can lead to fines and equipment seizure.
No amplification is permitted in any public street after 9pm and before 8am.
Lets councils issue Community Protection Notices and PSPOs for genuine anti-social behaviour.
